Program Notes: Welcome to Free Form Forvm, a free from trip back to the progressive music era of the mid 1970's.  If you were not there, this program will give you a good feel for how it was - from those who were there.  It was more than just which music was played (though the range was great), but how it was put together.  These days, the few programs put together in this manner are called things like soundscapes.  So we can get odd mixtures like James Taylor following the Mahavishnu Orchestra.  Just so the flow is there.

So here's some notes on the "soundscape" for 'Forvm:   We start off with a small but exciting set - a cool Ten Years After song from an album that everyone remembers for the title track Rock & Roll music to the world.   I always liked Convention Prevention better - the rhythm won't let you go, until ... we neatly segue into one of Roxy Music's most exciting tunes ever - The Thrill of it All.   Then on to a very different mood...  starting a day with Soft machine's Aubade (which means music suitable for performance at dawn or early morning).   then from sunrise out into the "Open Country Joy" with some early morning fusion in between from the Mahavishnu Orchestra.  While we are out in the countryside, we stumble into the outpost of Machine Gun Kelley with James Taylor.  The final tune doesn't follow any of this theme, but it's a great segue (which is how the sets are really planned - not by theme) into Richie Havens' Minstrel (from Gault).  Hope you find it as much fun as I did creating it!
