Scott's Blog Notes: 70+ reviews and counting so far on Amazon.com for Lindsey Buckingham's "Under the Skin" CD, most tending toward the extremes of "Love It" and "Hate It."  So where's my review? 	Feature: Bobby Sweet - Already Home
Scotts Blog Notes: Driving back from a vacation in Maine last fall, we planned an overnight stop at Saratoga Springs NY.  Playing at Caffe Lena on the evening of our stopover was Garnet Rogers, from whom we expeced a great show.  What we didn't expect, or have any idea about, was the quality of the opening act, Bobby Sweet!  This was obviously not a newcomer who just picked up a guitar and was getting a start here, these were great songs performed by an experienced and confident performer.  So if you too are (were) unfamiliar with Bobby Sweet, here's a brief bio taken from  his web site at Bobbysweet.com (and, better yet, the songs follow): "Bobby is a fifth-generation musician. He began performing at age 7 in his father’s band, and left at 17 to pursue his widening musical interests. As a performer, Bobby has shared the bill with some of the top country and folk artists, including Vince Gill, Bill Staines, Bill Morrissey, Deana Carter, Bryan White, Arlo Guthrie, The Neilds, and Jess Klein. As a sought-after lead guitarist he has shared the stage with George Jones, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, The Bellamy Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and many others. "Bobby has written songs that have aired on the hit television series Touched By An Angel, Walker Texas Ranger, Soul Food, and Judging Amy, among others. Another of his songs was featured in the Danny Devito/Bette Midler movie Drowning Mona. He has performed at the legendary Bluebird Cafe and other venues in Nashville, and his guitar and vocal work have been featured on recordings by Arlo Guthrie, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Bernice Lewis and a host of other album projects. Bobby is a former staff writer with HoriPro Entertainment Group in Nashville. Today he also works as a producer and recording engineer at Derek Studios, where he has shared his knowledge and skills with many artists of varying styles, ranging from folk to Americana to world music." Of the 4 Bobby Sweet songs in this set, the last one here, "Sorrytown," really stirred up the musical 'connections' algorithm in my mind and ultimately reminded me of several songs by Peter Case, as well as the ones here from Michael Jerling and (at least a little bit) Tony Joe White, so I have included a little mini set within the set at the end, starting with the The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. New on the playlist this time, Caufield and Jeff Peterson, more Fresh Cuts from recent features Ed Gerhard, Shawn Mullins & Dave Potts, Linda Ronstadt & Ann Savoy and a few from a little before those, plus some classic gems from Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell and John Denver.
