try first
If you are having problems with any media player, especially when things worked properly and you did not have problems before this, TRY THIS FIRST:

Many media players develop odd operation problems when you have a large number of Temporary Internet Files accumulated on your har drive, particularly using Microsoft Internet Explorer.  TRY EMPTYING YOUR TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES and then CLOSE & RESTART YOUR BROWSER.

If you do not know how to do this, on Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the TOOLS menu and select INTERNET OPTIONS.  Under the GENERAL Tab (which it opens to), look at the second section down ["Temporary Internet Files"] and click the button "DELETE FILES...".  If you have a lot of files, this make take several minutes to complete.

If you are using Real Player, you should also "Empty [the] Clip Cache." See Item 4 below for instructions.

Q. I'm getting a window full of "undefined" where the play button and other stuff should be when trying to play the MP3 CoolStreams for the first time.

A. Our browser player has some incompatibility issues with a few different older Norton products. Essentially, they have some "security" settings that break our browser-based player. The biggest problem has to do with Norton Internet Security, which causes an "undefined" problem when the player is launched.

If you are using an internet security product like Norton, read on and follow these instructions EXACTLY and DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS:

The appearance of numerous instances of the word "undefined" in the Live365 Player window (as well as other odd behavior such as incomplete windows, continuous loading or an "object expected" error) is normally caused by Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall or Norton Anti-spam. To allow Live365 unrestricted access, follow the steps below to exempt Live365 from Ad Blocking, delete all of your temporary files, and then restart your computer.

For 2004/2005 products

1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Ad Blocking > Configure > Advanced > Add Site.
3. Type www.Live365.com and then click OK.
4. Select the newly created www.Live365.com entry. In the right pane, on the Ad Blocking tab, click Add.
5. Select Permit.
6. Type a single / into the dialog box, and then Click OK.
7. Click OK to close any open windows.
8. Log out of Live365 then delete all temporary internet files from Internet Explorer (Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files)
9. Restart the computer.

For 2003 products
1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Options.
3. On the Web Contents tab, click Add Site.
4. Type www.Live365.com and then click OK.
5. Select the newly created www.Live365.com entry. In the right pane, on the Ad Blocking tab, click Add.
6. Select Permit.
7. Type a single / into the dialog box, and then Click OK.
8. Click OK to close any open windows.
9. Log out of Live365 then delete all temporary internet files from Internet Explorer (Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files)
10. Restart the computer.

For Norton Anti-Spam:
1. Open Norton Anti-Spam
2. Click on "Ad Blocking" (or "Popup Blocking" whichever is on)
3. Click on "Advanced" to configure for individual web sites
4. Click on "Add Site" and a window will appear named "New Site/Domain"
5. Enter www.Live365.com, and click "OK" and the site will be highlighted in the Web Contents Options window
6. Click "Add..." under the Ad Blocking window and the "Add New HTML String" window will appear. Select "Permit," type in a backslash "/" and click OK, then click OK in the Advanced window
7. Log out of Live365 then delete all temporary internet files from Internet Explorer (Tools->Internet Options->Delete Files)
8. Restart the computer.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, please contact us for additional help.

Q. I Cannot login to the MP3 CoolStreams - I type my Login and Password and the same login screen just returns over and over again! (I know the login is correct)

A. If your Membership is current (not expired), then you may be on a browser with very restricted "cookie" settings:

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

To enable the cookies on Internet Explorer open an instance of the browser. Go to "Tools" then "Internet Options". Click on the "Privacy" tab. Lower the slider to the bottom to "Accept All Cookies". (Note: If you don't want to go all the way to "Accept All Cookies," the player also should work on settings of LOW, MEDIUM and MEDIUM-HIGH, but you might see a "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" message on the top of the Player window using these settings.  The player will not let you login on settings of HIGH and BLOCK ALL COOKIES!)

Internet Explorer (5.0, 5.5):

To enable the cookies on Internet Explorer open an instance of the browser. Go to "Tools" then "Internet Options" Hit the "Security" tab and go to "Custom Level". Scroll down to "Cookies" and make sure that both cookies settings are enabled. Hit "OK" then "Apply". This will turn your Internet Explorer Cookies on.

Netscape Navigator (4.7x):

To enable the cookies on Netscape Navigator 4.7x open an instance of the browser. Go to "Edit" then "Preferences". There click on "Advanced", make sure that "Accept All Cookies" is checked and hit "OK". This will turn your Netscape Navigator 4.7x Cookies on.

If you have tried these settings and still cannot login, please email members @ musicsojourn (dot com) for assistance.  If your Membership and login has expired, you should see a small red warning message saying that the login is not valid at the lower left side of the player

13. The MP3 CoolStreams constantly cut out

If you are using a web security program like "Norton Internet Security 2005" or others, sometimes they cause problems that prevent our MP3 Coolstreams from playing properly on your computer.  If you are using a security program and are experiencing problems, try disabling the security program to see if it resolves the problem.

We have experienced problems playing the MP3 CoolStreams on some machines under "Norton Internet Security 2005" in particular. the SYMPTOM is that the CoolStream will stop and start often as if the stream is droppping out or turning off.  When we turned off Norton Internet Security 2005, the stream played perfectly.

Web security program like "Norton Internet Security 2005" or others also sometimes cause problems that prevent some or all of our Programs On-Demand to play on your computer.  See topic 5 above.
