Liam O'Donoghue is currently programming the Jazz
Masters program. Little is known of his past, and most of it
is lies. Some claim to have seen him slinking around WRCT
sometime in the early 80's, although there is little
evidence of it. One person is on record as seeing him at
Nathan Davis' Jazz history class. Another sighting was in
the darkrooms at Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Possibly the most
apocryphal stories have him operating the sound and lights
at Allegheny Brass Band concerts. The most credible evidence
has him haunting record and CD stores looking for the most
obscure and eclectic music, and he can still be found
roaming the racks at Paul's or Stedeford's. That is when he
is not at Manchester Craftsman's Guild concerts or
haranguing Kenny Blake about all that 'smooth jazz' he
records.
-----------
Editor's Note: Liam has no long list of radio or media
credentials, and he would never get a job at Clear Channel,
Infinity or AOL Time Warner (except maybe in the Info
Systems Dept. or mail room). He's just a guy who loves
and collects lots of music, of all different genres and
styles, and likes to share it with people. Imagine
that!
P.S. People like that once
worked at or owned record companies or radio stations, now
they work other jobs (most seem to program computers)
and visit small record stores and listen to music on the
internet. Times have changed.
