Folk / Folk RockFred Migliore is the Executive
Producer and Creator of FM Odyssey, now on over 100 US Pulic
Radio Stations. On
November 30, 1998, FM Odyssey began it’s journey into weekly
national syndication. FM Odyssey has already astonished
public radio audiences across the country with five
excellent specials:
1) "The Laura Nyro Tribute", music and
interview segments surrounding the late
artist’s life work;
2) "Home for Thanksgiving", a unique fall
program with segments from Dan Fogelberg, Susan Graham
White, and Arlo Guthrie;
3) "David Crosby...Leaving a Wake", an
intimate interview where David shares his incredible story
of recovery and rebirth;
4) "Judy Collins...Forever In A Day", a
tribute to the life and music of Judy Collins;
5) "Renaissance and Beyond
with Annie Haslem", tracing the evolution of Renaissance
orchestral rock as well as Annie’s latest creations.
"After attaining a carriage list of over
90 stations, we decided it was time to unveil our
masterpiece and produce our weekly program for audiences
everywhere," said Fred Migliore, Executive Producer.
Migliore has produced the weekly show "Another
Unconventional Sunday Morning" (AUSM) on WFIT in Melbourne,
Florida for nine years. "The concept of our nationally
syndicated programs will be two-fold; a two hour weekly
show, plus occasional specials presented in a similar vein
as our previous national broadcasts." The weekly show will
duplicate the success of AUSM which has developed an
incredible following since 1991. AUSM has also broken fund
drives consistently, on several occasions collecting over
40% of the total drive in just a three hour time frame!
FM Odyssey’s weekly is vibrant, and
intelligent offering music with both a heart and a soul. A
typical playlist may include legends such as Renaissance,
Circus Maximus, or Brian Auger as well as Leonard Cohen,
Bruce Cockburn, or Kate Wolf. It will also grab your
attention with newly emerging artists such as Mark Erelli,
Tony Joe White, The Dharma Bums and Jonell Mosser. This
blend has proven to be extremely effective in both creating
and maintaining a fiercely loyal audience by tapping into
hidden musical memories, yet challenging them with fresh,
new artistry.

FM ODYSSEY is a rare program
to public radio today, consistently challenging while
changing. Fred Migliore’s choice of music and arrangement of
songs keeps even the most alien of listeners enthralled and
entertained."
~ Michael Stokes Davis, Program Director - WUSM,
Hattiesburg, Mississippi

" From a programmer’s
standpoint, I find FM ODYSSEY to be one of the few PRSS
satellite programs which appeals to our AAA audience without
fail - every episode. As for content, Fred Migliore mixes
incredible music from artists both known and obscure, and
has a conversational tone which our listeners appreciate.
Our listeners tell us they feel comfortable with his no-hype
presentation and his knack for picking out both listenable
and interesting music.
Fred is obviously a radio
professional with a graceful and relaxing style gained
through years of on-air experience. For stations who are
looking for a positive change in their music lineup, FM
ODYSSEY provides a unique opportunity to increase
listenership without losing fans loyal to another show.
~Jim Kloss, Program Director - KTNA, Talkeetna, Alaska

"Fred Migliore brings a
wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to FM ODYSSEY. He makes
the listener feel right at home. It’s like having the
aritists sitting in your living room."
~ Todd Kennedy, Program Director- WFIT, Melbourne, Florida

" David Crosby....Leaving a
Wake" is another great program in the FM ODYSSEY tradition.
Fred Migliore’s interview and music choices on the Laura
Nyro Special made it one of the most popular shows KSUT has
ever aired. " Leaving a Wake" is first-rate
storytelling...unlike so many stories these days, it has a
happy ending! And it’s not over- Crosby lives!
~Steve Rauworth, Program Director - KSUT Public Radio -
Ignacio, CO

"The Laura Nyro Tribute
worked great for us. We got tremendous listener feedback,
all positive. Most wanted to know when we would air it
again. I never knew that Ms. Nyro had such a loyal and very
vocal following. They were strong lobbyists for us to air
the show, and they were very appreciative that we did it.
Most commented on the "Live" recordings and the interview
with Laura as highlights."
~ Brian Quinn, Program Director, WUMB - Boston, Worcester &
Falmouth, MA

"Compelling Radio. The Judy
Collins interview and in studio performances were superb
radio. I did not want it to end. His interview with David
Crosby was powerful and touching."
~Bill Beckett, Program Director, WUFT- Gainesville, Fl.

"David Crosby- "Leaving A
Wake" aired on our Radio Station November 26,1998
Thanksgiving Evening. We had a great response from listeners
all over the Rio Grande Valley who were inspired by David
Crosby’s story of life and hope. I was so enthralled with
the interview myself, that I forgot about my turkey cooking
and burned it in the midst of listening to this interview.
"Leaving A Wake " will be airing in the near future for
listeners who missed it the first time."
~Chris Maley,Program Director, KMBH-FM, Harlingen, TX.

"We received very positive
feedback after we aired the FM Odyssey Specials on Judy
Collins And David Crosby. Our listeners appreciated not only
the music but also the insight into the artists as people.
Great programs to target our core audience.
We have since added the
weekly FM Odyssey program to our schedule as the other
weekend day compliment to the mellow weekend version of
World Cafe. It works great, and sounds right."
~ Charles Beck, Program Director -Maine Public Radio,
Bangor, ME

"The Judy Collins Program was
put together in a very pleasing format to honor such a
deserving artist. The interview is quite intimate and brings
the listener into the conversation through a very relaxed
atmosphere. The program also maintains a perfect balance
between the interview and the music. The stories she has to
tell come through in a fashion that does not get bogged down
in yesterday. A fine tribute to a fine lady that will fit
into a program schedule beautifully within a music block or
transition out of a news or talk block. I would highly
suggest all three hours of the program. If that proves
difficult in a program schedule- break it into three, but
don’t leave anything out because your listeners deserve to
hear the whole show.
~ Tom Abbott, General Manager/Program Director - KFSK-FM,
Petersburg, AK
"Fred Migliore and FM Odyssey
have provided a forum for the music of Laura Nyro which has
never been done before. The beautifully prepared broadcast
to 51 markets helped to raise awareness of the legacy, life
and music of Laura Nyro. Countless new fans were cultivated
for Laura's music. This would not have been possible without
these broadcasts. As the label that released the tribute to
Laura, 'Time and Love: The Music of Laura Nyro', I am deeply
indebted to Fred and FM Odyssey for their efforts and
impact."
